We're back in Beirut safe and sound. Bangkok was fun. The mystical Palace and Temples aroused a sense of awe. The calming nature of their religion and culture contrasts to our loud middle eastern lives. We even went to the zoo, which was surprisingly modern. We went to a movie and dinner one night, but there was nothing typical about it. We saw a viewing of the Pink Panther at the EVG Grand Theatre. We splurged on the expensive "Gold Class" seats. (500 baht each. About $12) Here's what we got. A lounge with a bar, magazines, and comfy chairs to enjoy while we waited for our movie. We placed a food order here that was later delivered to our seats in the theatre. The chairs in the theatre were large, adjustable recliners. They were more similar to craftmatic adjustable beds than movie theater chairs.
A fresh blanket and pillow was provided on every chair. There were only 40 seats in the entire theater because they took up so much space. We were also treated to the Thai National Anthem which they play before the showing of every movie. The challenge was not to fall asleep in the comfy chairs.
Gotta run.
